Floating Pontoon road through the Lion pass in Enshi, Hubei province
The Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture is located in the south-west corner of #Hubei province with capital #Wuhan, bordering Hunan province in the south and Chongqing municipality in the west. The prefecture is a luscious green mountainous region separating the Jianghan Plain in Hubei from the Sichuan Basin.
Xuan'en County in the prefecture is home to the 狮子关Shiziguan or Lion Pass, an ancient natural pass through green-covered karst peaks. The floating bridge road is an amazing drive through the pass.
The Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture (恩施土家族苗族自治州) is the only autonomous region in Hubei province, home to two of the 56 official ethnic minorities in China, 土家Tujia and 苗族Miao, comprising about 50% of the 3.3 million prefecture population. At about 24,000km2, the prefecture is about the size of Macedonia.
