China’s swans winter retreat

10,000 swans settling down these weeks in the eastern tip of the Shandong province peninsula.

Lagoons in the Rongcheng wetlands near the coast of the Yellow Sea coast are the winter retreat for 10,000 swans flying in from Northern provinces in China, Siberia and Mongolia along with 10,000’s of other migrating birds such as geese and ducks.

The wetlands are under ecological protection in a nature reserve and different locations have been established for tourists to watch the birds in wintertime, including an education center to learn more about the birds and ecological wetlands.
