Cool mountains, flowers and a tofu banquet...

A few days in the north of Beijing and adjacent Hebei province

On the way up to the mountains in Zhangjiakou area, shared home to the Winter Olympics, we drove on country roads though Beijing's Yanqing district with its beautiful hills and flower fields. For lunch Yanqing's renowned Liugou tofu banquet, a pot with different colored tofu preparations, preserved Chinese cabbage and smoked pork.

太舞度假小鎮 or Thaiwoo ski resort next to the Winter Olympic village in Zhangjiakou is a pleasant cool site during summer to escape Beijing's summer heat for a couple of days and enjoy the fresh mountain air with its peak at 2160 meters.
