Ecological revolution 15 years onward...

Yucun (余村) village, Anji County in south-east China's Zhejiang Province can be considered the cradle of the ecological civilization move in China back in 2005. Then secretary of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee, President Xi Jinping mentioned during his visit in August 2005 to Yucun after drastic environment measures had been taken by the local county : "Lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets"

Yucun was deprived from their incomes by 90% between 2003-2005 by closing 3 mines and a cement factory but transformed itself from a heavily polluted area into a successful "green center" of eco-friendly agriculture, bamboo industry and tourism. Anji County today is an attractive natural and scenic hideout for Shanghai and Hangzhou residents.

During the past 15 years, the ecological civilization program has strongly increased living and environmental conditions all over China by regulations, transformation, forestation and protection.

Last June the government released a layout for the next 15 years for a.o. clean industries, healthy rivers and further protection and forestation.

"Unless China's environment is cleaned up, the Chinese dream and rejuvenation cannot be fulfilled.”
