Electrical Vehicle (EV) China forecast 2021: sales of 1.9 million EV’s, growth of 51% compared to 2020 with an expected 9% share of all cars sold in China during this year.
2020 saw a sales of 1.3 million EV’s, a modest 8% growth yoy (and 6.3% share of all cars sold). The 2020 sales figure (1.3 million) represented 41% of global EV sales, just behind Europe with 42% of global EV sales.
The future for EV’s looks promising in China despite buyer subsidies being reduced. An excellent fast expanding network of standardized public EV chargers (more than 800,000 in 2020 at a growing rate of thousand per day), ongoing government support and increasing consumer demand for green sustainability.
The availability of different EV brands, sizes and models is also rapidly growing. New models and brands keep popping up by the day. Tesla made-in-China Model Y and the Hongguang Mini EV were big sales hits in 2020.
