Snowmen gathering in Harbin for New Year Celebration !
More than 2000 snowmen built two weeks ago along the Songhua river in Harbin, capital of Northeast China’s Helongjiang province to welcome the new year 2019.
The snowmen, in the shapes of cartoon characters and cute animals, were made by more than 300 people with 30,000 cubic meters of snow, covering an area of over 100,000 square meters. The biggest snowman is over 20 meters tall while the smallest about one meter high.
With an average daily temperature of -13 celcius during the day down to -24 celcius at night in January, the people in Harbin hope to enjoy the company of snowmen for quite a while. Harbin is especially famous for the annual ice sculpture festival from December to end of February with numerous competitions and exhibitions all over the city in ice and snow sculptures.
