This is also Beijing....

We escaped 2 days this holiday week to travel up north in Beijing to the mountainous Huairou district 怀柔区during the National Holidays. Foggy mountains, fresh water streams, roasted chestnuts, corn and walnuts, cool nights. It was unusually rainy (as already this whole summer in Beijing) but the rain and fog added up to the whole mountain-feel atmosphere.

Not yet full autumn colors in Beijing, this will be later this month and early November for the typical golden Ginkgo trees. Huairou is famous for the Great Wall sights but there is so much more in this district at the size of Luxembourg.

And the renowned Huairou signature dish grilled rainbow trout (虹鳟) was as delicious as remembered several years ago 😊
